Hello and welcome to "Self Reflection" Counselling and Pschyotherapy.
My name is Jo Bentley-Walls and I'm a qualified Life Coach and experienced Humanistic Intergrative Person-Centred therapeutic counsellor. I have worked for over 30 years as a dental hygienist so have a wealth of experience in working with people, especially their phobias.
I am passionate about helping people understand and reconcile their emotional struggles and committed to providing a friendly, compassionate and unbiased service to all my clients.
I am based in Bournemouth and Birmingham but also provide telephone counselling so geography is not so important.
All work undertaken is done so in the strictest of confidence. I am fully insured and I work within the Ethical Framework of the BACP, of which I am a member.

About Counselling

As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I understand that sometimes life can be difficult and overwhelming and from time to time we all need a little help, support and understanding from someone who won't judge us. Your difficulties could be anything from day to day life getting you down to unresolved issues from the past that are influencing today.
Whatever your difficulties I can offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with the aim of you moving forward with a better understanding of yourself and hopefully living a more fulfilled life.
We all need to be listened to, to be heard and to be understood. I will support you every step of the way on your journey to a more fulfilled you. There is no difficulty too small or trivial. If it matters to you, it matters.
As an Intergrative counsellor I am able to draw upon several counselling theories to help meet your needs.
  • The Person-Centred approach to therapy is non-directive and based on the idea that the client is the expert in their own lives and, given the right circumstances, is capable of great change to reach their full potential.
  • Transactional Analysis is another of the methods of therapy that can be integrated to help explain behaviour and improve communication.
  • Gestalt is an approach to psychotherapy that helps clients focus on the here and now and understand what is really happening in their lives right now, rather than what they may perceive to be happening based on the past.
  • Our time together is based on you, your needs and whatever you choose to discuss. We will work at your pace and to your agenda. Please be assured that your best interests are at the heart of every session.
    It may be that one or two sessions are enough for you to talk things through or that a longer-term therapeutic relationship would better meet your needs. Whatever your requirements, I can cater for them.
    I have been amazed and inspired by many of my clients who have worked through their difficulties, in the face of much adversity, to achieve the changes that once seemed impossible, to completely turn their lives around.
